Description

Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash is a dual-action cleanser formulated for people with spots and blemishes.

Many standard soaps contain harsh chemical colorants, fragrances, and preservatives that can irritate or strip skin of essential oils, drying it out and sometimes aggravating spots and redness.

This face wash is free of common irritants and is formulated with a dual action to gently remove excess sebum and prevent the acne-forming (P. acnes) bacteria that thrive on oily, greasy skin with pores clogged with dead skin cells.

The exfoliating, antifungal, antiseptic, and antibacterial agents it contains effectively limit the amount and activity of these bacteria, reducing spot and blackhead formation and leaving the skin feeling cleaner and more refreshed.

It can be used daily in place of normal soap by adults and children, as part of your standard wash routine.

Ingredients

The ingredients in Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash are:

  • Chlorhexidine digluconate
  • Cetrimide

Directions

This facewash should be used in the mornings and evenings as part of your skincare routine, and as a substitute for normal soap.

Wet the hands and face with warm water. Then massage a generous amount of the wash into the facial skin, especially around the nose, forehead, cheeks, and chin. After cleansing, rinse well with warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.

Precautions

Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes and other delicate areas such as the nostrils, inner ear, and lips. In the event of contact, rinse out with clean water. Keep this product away from small children.

Like with all skincare products, check the ingredients for hypersensitivities before usage.

In the event of an unwanted skin reaction, stop using the face wash and consult with your pharmacist or doctor to recommend an alternative cleanser.

Side Effects

Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash is associated with no known side effects. It does not interact with any other medicinal products.

Research & Evidence

For people with Acne

HelloSkin’s experts were unable to find any clinical data on the use of Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash in people with acne. However, the product contains chlorhexidine gluconate which is an antibacterial with both bacteriostatic (inhibits bacterial growth) and bactericidal (kills bacteria) effects depending on the concentration.

Of the four main pathogenic factors recognised in acne, the colonisation by Propionibacterium acnes is one (1). These bacteria feed off the sebum produced in the sebaceous glands of the follicles, which is thought somehow to transform these follicular sites into inflamed acne lesions (2). An older study report that a skin cleanser with 4% chlorhexidine gluconate was able to reduce the number of pustules and papules (3). In comparison, this product contains 1/20th of chlorhexidine gluconate.

The product also contains myrtrimonium bromide, which also works as an antibacterial ingredient and is stated to remove excess oil of the skin. HelloSkin’s experts have not found any studies in publically available databases on myrtrimonium bromide in acne.
