Neutrogena Visibly Clear Rapid Clear Treatment is a specially formulated gel that is effective at rapidly reducing the size and redness of spots.

With proven acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid, which works to exfoliate skin and clear the pores, while also helping to neutralise the bacteria that forms spots, this oil-free gel is clinically proven to improve skin appearance. It is said to work within 4 hours.

The gel is quickly absorbed by the skin and dries quickly, without dehydrating or further damaging the skin. It is suitable for everyday use and is free of parabens, artificial colours, and artificial fragrances. Used regularly, it quickly leaves the skin looking clearer and healthier.

Research & Evidence

For people with Acne

HelloSkin’s experts did not find any scientific data on the use of Neutrogena Visibly Clear Rapid Clear Treatment in people with acne. However, the product contains salicylic acid and lactic acid. Salicylic acids is an active ingredient typically found in acne products that works by dissolving the intercellular cement that holds epithelial cells together (1), which then helps prevent pores from clogging (2, 3). It is also thought to reduce sebum production (4). Excess sebum production is one of the main factors in acne pathogenesis (5). Salicylic acids is recommended in low concentrations, since it can cause side effects such as local irritation (6). In cosmetic products, 2% is the maximum strength allowed. The product also contains lactic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid. Alpha hydroxy acids are believed to help reduce inflammation and remove dead skin cells. In patients with mild-to-moderate acne (both with black- and white heads alone, inflammatory acne alone or a combination) the efficacy of applying a cream with a new mix of alpha hydroxy acids with or without a pharmacological treatment twice a day for 2 months was investigated in a non-randomised open-labelled study (7). The study reported that the cream was well tolerated and that the cream alone, was just as effective as the cream in combination with the pharmacological treatment with the efficacy rated as high in 64% of the participants in both treatment groups.

This product also contains perfume, which is not recommended for people with sensitive skin. Fragrances are among the most common skin irritants (8) and can lead to further irritation and inflammation of sensitive skin.
