T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo is designed to control symptoms of dandruff and provide relief from dry scalp conditions such as scalp psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis.

The shampoo is a translucent amber liquid and contains coal tar. This aids the upper skin layers in shedding dead cells and also inhibits growth of excess cells. By reducing the flakes of dead skin on the scalp it helps to control dandruff, which often results from dry scalp conditions.

Improvement in the condition of the scalp should be seen after six weeks.

The ingredients in T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo – Coal Tar Extract are:

  • Neutar solubilised coal tar extract
  • Macrogol lauryl ether
  • Sodium lauryl ether sulfate
  • Cocodiethanolamide
  • Cocamidopropyl betaine
  • Imidazolidinyl urea
  • Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218)
  • Propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216)
  • Tetrasodium EDTA
  • Citric acid
  • Fragrance FUGIO 242156
  • Sodium chloride
  • Purified water

Note: The fragrance includes esters of benzoic acid, benzyl benzoate and butylated hydroxytoluene (E321).

Pour a generous amount of T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo into your hand and massage into the scalp, after wetting your hair. Leave the lather there for several minutes and then rinse the scalp with water, before repeating. Rinse the scalp thoroughly once finished.

Ideally, use the shampoo at least 2-3 times per week.

You should keep T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo out of children’s sight and reach. Avoid contact with the eyes and use only externally.

If you have an allergy to coal tar or to any of the other listed ingredients, avoid using this product. It contains parahydroxybenzoates, esters of benzoic acid and benzyl benzoate, and butylated hydroxytoluene, all of which may cause irritation to mucous membranes and eyes or local skin reactions.

If you experience any irritation or unexpected reaction, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not use if the skin on your scalp is acutely inflamed or broken, or if you suffer from pustular psoriasis.

If you have more than just a localized skin condition, where it covers a large part of the body, consult with a doctor before use.

The coal tar content in this shampoo may have a photo-sensitising action. Take extra caution when exposing the skin to sunlight after using this product.

For use beyond a period of six weeks, check with your doctor. This shampoo is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should check with their doctors before use.

Side Effects

Apart from extra sensitivity to sunlight, another possible side effect of using T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo is the temporary discoloration of blond, bleached or tinted hair. You may also experience a burning sensation or irritation when using, and acne-like skin eruptions are also possible.

There are no known interactions with other medicinal products.
