Description

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Clarifying Lotion helps blemish-prone skin become more oil-free and make the formation of spots and acne less likely.

Oily skin is more likely to create the conditions for acne-forming bacteria to thrive. This clarifying lotion adds another step in the skincare regime for people who are susceptible to spots and blemishes. It contains the proven acne-fighting ingredient lipo-hydroxy acid (LHA) and the soothing thermal spring water that is characteristic of La Roche Posay products.

After cleansing, applying this lotion will remove any remaining oil, helping to unblock pores, reduce their size, and create a smoother skin texture.

Many popular cleansers contain parabens and artificial colours, which can irritate sensitive skin. This lotion uses minimal fragrance, is free of other known irritants, is 100% hypoallergenic, and is well-tolerated even by sensitive skin.

Research & Evidence

For people with Acne

HelloSkin’s experts could not find any clinical evidence on the use of La Roche-Posay Effaclar Clarifying Lotion in people with acne. However, the product contains salicylic acid which helps limit clogging of the pores (1). Salicylic acid has also been reported to reduce sebum production (2), the excess of which is one of the main factors in acne pathogenesis (3). The glycerin in the product helps moisturise the skin, due to its water-binding capacity (4).

It is important to be aware that this product contains alcohol and perfume, which can lead to increased dryness and skin irritation, particularly for people with sensitive skin. Perfumes are among the most common allergens responsible for causing contact dermatitis (5).
