E45 Emollient Bath Oil is a formula designed to rehydrate and soothe dry skin associated with dry skin conditions, incl. eczema symptoms.
It works as an emollient. When washing or bathing, it forms an ‘occlusive’ layer on the skin, which protects it and slows the rate of evaporation. This means that less moisture escapes, and the upper skin layers are able to absorb more water, rehydrating the skin, and leaving it feeling softer and suppler.
The problem of dry skin, which is a result of absence of moisture in the upper skin layers, can be worsened by some detergents and soaps.
E45 Emollient Bath Oil is free of the chemicals in standard soaps, and is also free of artificial fragrances. It can replace your usual soap, as the oil will lightly cleanse your skin.
When added to the bath, you can immerse yourself fully and receive its moisturising benefits all over the body, which helps to protect the skin all over. It can also be used in the shower.
This bath oil is mild enough for most dry skin suffers to use - even children and the elderly.

HelloSkin’s experts were unable to find any clinical data on the benefits of E45 Emollient Bath Oil for people with psoriasis.
However, the Bath Oil contains paraffinum liquidum, which is proven to help prevent water evaporation from the surface of the skin. Compared with normal skin, water evaporation is increased in psoriatic lesions (1).
