Description

As the first bed linen in the European Union and in the US to be classified as a Class I Medical Device for treating mild atopic dermatitis, DermaTherapy bedding is especially suitable for people with irritated or problem skin.

Sleep can be uncomfortable for people with dry skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, as well as for those with acne or bed sores.

By reducing friction with the skin and channelling moisture away from it, this bedding can help to relieve the itching and irritation associated with some skin conditions, providing a higher level of comfort and hygiene than standard cotton or polycotton bedding.

DermaTherapy pillow cases are part of this range of bedding especially designed for the needs of people with sensitive skin. The range also includes sheets, duvet covers, and more.

By using these pillow cases, dry skin patches on the face or in the neck area feel less irritated and, for people with acne, pain and irritation from inflamed and damaged skin is minimised.

The pair of pillow cases are pure white and 50cm x 75cm in size.

Designed specifically to reduce friction, DermaTherapy pillow cases are constructed of uniquely shaped microfibers. The continuous filament woven yarns create a smooth surface, which is free of the types of loose fibres that often protrude from polycotton bedding, and which may irritate skin. This smoothness reduces the potential for skin trauma or irritation.

They are lint-free and can be laundered more times than conventional bed linen without deterioration. The microfibre fabric also incorporates a soil release system that makes them easy to keep free of oil, medication, or blood, using standard washing procedures.

The pillow case fabric wicks sweat and moisture away from the skin, allowing it to evaporate. This prevents the skin from sticking to the fabric, helping it to remain dry and comfortable, while reducing the chance of itching or irritation with acne or eczema-prone skin.

These pillow cases have a long-lasting antimicrobial finish that also keeps them fresh, hygienic, and odour-free. This is especially important for acne sufferers (for whom bacteria build up can worsen the condition) or for those with serious dry skin conditions.

Research & Evidence

For people with Psoriasis

HelloSkin’s experts were unable to find clinical data on the use of DermaTherapy Pillow Case in people living with psoriasis. However, the benefits of using the DermaTherapy fabric has been shown in people with atopic eczema in a study from 2008 based on 37 people with mild to moderate atopic dermatitis. After 8 weeks of use there was a significant decrease in severity and itching. Furthermore the study showed ‘some improvement’ in a quality of life index, and in general, patients reported significant improvement in the amount of itching experienced, tendency to scratch, and overall skin appearance (1).
