Description

The Salt Brushing treatment is the most popular product in the Dead Sea Spa Magik range. It is an intensely nourishing, moisturising, and exfoliating ‘home spa’ treatment containing Dead Sea salts and coconut oil.

The salts in this product consist of de-ionised water loaded with many Dead Sea minerals, such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium as bromides, chlorides and sulphates. These combine with the coconut oil to bring hydration and nourishment to the skin.

This treatment also exfoliates naturally, without irritating the skin, has a general soothing effect on the body, and contains the antioxidant Vitamin E to help protect the skin.

The perfume contained in this product is allergen-free and blended with essential oils. The salt brush contains no known irritants, and is colour-free and preservative-free.

As well as being a relaxing, skin-regenerating spa experience in your own home, some of the side benefits of using this salt brush are said to be reduction in cellulite, increased lymph flow, and improved circulation.

Ingredients

The ingredients in Dead Sea Spa Magik Salt Brushing are:

  • Maris sal (Dead Sea salts)
  • Caprylic/Capric triglyceride (coconut oil)
  • Parfum
  • Tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E)

Directions

Apply Dead Sea Spa Magik Salt Brushing to dry skin. Help the salts dissolve into the skin using gentle, circular motions of the hand. Any excess salts can be rinsed off in the shower or bath.

For a more complete ‘spa experience’ when using this treatment, it is recommended that you light some candles around a bathtub full of warm water and stand in the tub (or shower) to apply the salts to the skin; then lie back in the bath as the minerals get to work.

After you leave the bath or shower, pat the skin gently dry with a soft towel.

Precautions

There are no known allergens in this product but check before usage. In the event of a skin reaction, stop using and speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Keep the salts out of children’s reach and use only externally.

Side Effects

Dead Sea Spa Magik Salt Brushing has no reported side effects. There are no known interactions with pharmaceutical products.

Research & Evidence

For people with Psoriasis

HelloSkin’s experts were unable to find data on the effect of Dead Sea Spa Magik Salt Brushing in psoriasis. However, dead sea water contains a larger concentration of chloride, magnesium, sodium, calcium, potassium, bromide, sulfate and bicarbonate than other seas around the world. Especially the high concentration of magnesium, which helps the skin retain water, is thought to give this its moisturising properties (1).

Studies have shown that the combination of Dead Sea salt balneotherapy (bathing) and phototherapy (exposure for UVB) have a great benefit on psoriatic lesions (2). For instance, one study that investigated skin biopsies of patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis before and after combined Dead Sea Water balneotherapy and phototherapy, demonstrated a significant reduction in the disease severity after 4 weeks of treatment (3).

Although arguably, the phototherapy is the most important factor in this, a specific benefit of Dead Sea water balneotherapy is also suggested (4).
