Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Gel Wash is a fast-acting cleanser that can help people with spots and blemishes to improve the appearance of their skin in just 12 hours.

Many of the cleansers generally available today contain soap and other irritants that can damage sensitive skin. This face wash gel is designed to gently lift dirt, oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria from the pores, while also opening the blocked pores that may lead to the formation of spots.

It is a dermatologist-tested formula, oil-free, and contains a combination of salicylic acid and natural flower extracts. The main active ingredient is salicylic acid, which is well-known to help fight spots by unclogging pores and neutralising the bacteria that causes them.

The wash can be used in the morning and evening to control spot-forming oil and bacteria all day long and overnight.

Research & Evidence

For people with Acne

HelloSkin’s experts were not able to find any clinical data on the use of Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Gel Wash in people with acne. However, the product contains salicylic acid which is an ingredient that is commonly used in acne treatment products thought to help limit clogging of pores by dissolving what holds skin cells together and reduce sebum production.

For instance, in a 4 week cross-over study of 30 patients with mild-to-moderate acne, a 2% salicylic acid cleanser was reported to reduce the number of comedones compared with when using a 10% benzoyl peroxide wash (1). Also, excess sebum is one of the main factors involved in acne pathogenesis (2). Salicylic acid in (very) high concentrations in an exfoliator has been shown to effectively reduce sebum secretion (3). In cosmetic products the concentration of salicylic acid must not exceed 2%, which is also what is in this product.

Salicylic can cause mild side effects such as mild, local irritation, so be aware when beginning to use this product. If you notice any redness or worsening of your acne, you should consider using a different product.

This product also contains both sodium laureth sulfate and fragrances, both of which can irritate sensitive skin further (4, 5). Therefore it is important to thoroughly rinse off the cleanser after use.
