Balneum Bath Oil is best used with warm water (not over 36 degrees). Add it to the bath when the water is running, using the recommended measurements below.
Full immersion in the bath provides the maximum benefits of hydration, and should also help you relax. But if you only have a small patch of dry, flaky, or scaly skin, you may be able to use a bowl or the sink to bathe it in the bath oil.
Take care not to use soap with the bath oil, as it will wash the protective oils away and may lead to further dryness.
For a full adult bath: add 1 capful (around 20ml) of the liquid to the bath water. Allow around 10-20 minutes soaking for maximum benefits, but no longer.
For a child or baby bath: add ¼ capful (around 5ml) to the water. Gently rub over the body using a sponge for a few minutes only.
For a bath in a bowl or sink: add 1/8 capful (around 2.5ml) to the bowl of water and rub over the affected area gently.
For very dry skin, use 2-3 times the amounts shown above. After you have finished bathing, pat the skin dry with a towel. Avoid rubbing, as this will remove the protective layer of oil.
Balneum Bath Oil can be used 2-3 times per week, or as directed by the doctor or pharmacist. For babies and infants a daily bath is generally recommended.
