Moisturising Creamy Oil is part of a range of products from Aveeno that uses the natural moisturising properties of oatmeal essence to help with dry and sensitive skin.

This oil combines naturally active colloidal oatmeal (oatmeal that has been milled into an ultra-fine powder) with sweet almond oil to bring moisturising benefits to dry skin conditions.

Being a creamy oil, it is less greasy, easier to apply, and more convenient than many mositurising oils. It is also easily absorbed into the skin when applied as directed.

This product can also work as a cleanser in place of soap, with the fine oatmeal particles adhering to dirt on the skin surface, which can be rinsed away with other impurities.

It is best used after a bath, when the natural oils and the oatmeal essence will work to moisturise the skin’s upper layers, restoring its protective barrier and reducing evaporation. The skin is left feeling less dry, smoother, and softer, but not sticky or greasy like with some oils.

Aveeno Moisturising Creamy Oil is lightly fragranced, contains no colours or parabens, and is hypoallergenic. This makes it generally well tolerated by people with sensitive skin.

Research & Evidence

For people with Psoriasis

HelloSkin’s experts were unable to find data on the use of Aveeno Moisturising Creamy Oil in psoriasis. It is known, that in dry skin conditions, including psoriasis, water loss from the upper skin layer is linked to a reduced skin barrier function, which may be worsening the disease symptoms (1).

Aveeno Moisturising Creamy Oil contains colloidal oatmeal which in a study has shown to improve skin dryness, scaling, roughness and itch intensity in healthy women with mild to moderate itch and moderate to severe dry skin (2).

Also, another study found that the colloidal oatmeal emollient compared with its vehicle had significant benefits on people with extremely dry skin (3).

The product also contains glycerin which is found naturally in healthy skin where it helps to attract and bind water from the deeper skin layers, thereby keeping it moist and well hydrated .
