Description

Aveeno Daily Moisturising After-Shower Mist is another in the line of products that use the proven moisturising properties of oatmeal extract to bring relief to dry skin sufferers.

This is a spray formulated for use following bathing or showering, when it is able to nourish and rehydrate the upper skin layers that may have been damaged by a dry skin condition. The vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in the oatmeal help to rejuvenate the skin.

The spray also helps to restore the lipids in the natural skin ‘barrier’ that protects the skin from excessive moisture loss through evaporation. This helps to replenish the skin to leave it feeling less dry and itchy, as well as suppler and softer.

The mist is non-greasy and fast-absorbing, with a long-lasting action that can moisturise for up to 48 hours. Being a spray, it is convenient to apply anywhere, and can be taken wherever you travel for an easy way to quickly moisturise after showering. This product is soap-free and contains no common irritants that can damage sensitive skin.

Research & Evidence

For people with Psoriasis

HelloSkin’s experts could not find any clinical data on the use of Aveeno Daily Moisturising After-Shower Mist in people with psoriasis.

In dry skin conditions, psoriasis included, water evaporation is increased compared with normal skin (1). Furthermore, water loss from the upper skin layer is linked to a reduced skin barrier function, which can exacerbate disease symptoms (2).

Glycerin and petrolatum that are in the product help attract and retain water from the deeper skin layers, thereby helping hydrating and moisturising the skin (3).

Also, colloidal oatmeal has been shown to improve skin dryness, scaling, roughness and itch intensity in people with mild to moderate itch and moderate to severe skin dryness (4).
