Description

Alphosyl 2-in-1 Shampoo with herbal fragrance is developed for the treatment of itching scalp, dandruff, psoriasis, eczema and seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Alphosyl 2-in-1 Medicated Shampoo is made for the treatment of scalp conditions like psoriasis, itchiness, scaling, eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and dandruff. The shampoo’s active ingredient is a coal tar extract that has anti-scaling properties and relieves scalp irritation and itching. It helps breaking down keratin, which is part of the skin structure.

Directions

Use Alphosyl Shampoo 1 or 2 times a week for 4 weeks.

  1. Wet your hair as you usually would when showering
  2. Apply the shampoo and lather so that your scalp, hair and adjoining parts are covered sufficiently
  3. Use your fingertips to massage the shampoo well into the scalp
  4. Thoroughly rinse your hair
  5. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4

The shampoo should not be in contact with your scalp more than a total of 3 to 5 min. during the two rounds of application.

Precautions

Alphosyl 2-in-1 Shampoo is a medicine obtainable without prescription, however, we recommend you use it with care and read the below information for the best results.

Alphosyl 2-in-1 Shampoo should not be used:

  • If you are allergic to coal tar or any other of the ingredients
  • To treat damaged, open or infected skin
  • To treat acute or sore pustular psoriasis characterized by white blisters surrounded by red skin

Skin sensitivity or skin irritation may be more likely to occur if you apply more Alphosyl 2-in-1 Shampoo than suggested or use the product more often than suggested.

This product is only for external use. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor if your symptoms continue.

  • Do not use on children under 12 years old without guidance from a doctor or pharmacist
  • Stop the treatment if your scalp gets irritated
  • Avoid the eyes – rinse with water if necessary
  • May cause stains on skin and impermanent hair colour changes – stains will disappear after use of the shampoo is ended
  • If you by accident swallow any shampoo, immediately contact your doctor

Pregnancy: Check with your doctor or pharmacist before beginning the treatment with Alphosyl 2-in-1 Shampoo if you are, or considering to get, pregnant.

Breastfeeding: Consult with your doctor or pharmacist before use. Make sure all traces of the shampoo is washed off thoroughly before breastfeeding.

Side Effects

Like all skin care products, Alphosyl Shampoo can lead to side effects, but far from everyone gets them. Hold back the treatment and talk to your doctor if you experience any allergic reactions, e.g. difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, itchy and raised skin rash.

If you get any of the effects below after using Alphosyl 2-in-1 Shampoo and have never experienced these before, stop using the shampoo and talk to a doctor or chemist.

  • Loss or thinning of hair
  • Eczema-like symptoms
  • Unusual hair texture
  • Skin irritation (dry skin, red skin, itchy skin, burning skin sensation)
  • Skin pain, skin rash, or skin swelling on the area of application

Research & Evidence

For people with Psoriasis

HelloSkin’s experts couldn’t find any scientific data of Alphosyl 2-in-1 shampoo on people with psoriasis.

However, the product contains 5% coal tar, and in a study where people with psoriasis used a 5% coal tar lotion three times daily for 12 weeks it was shown that 27% of the patients achieved a clearance or marked improvement (1).

From a safety profile perspective, a 5% coal tar lotion resulted in some treatment-related events that were mild to moderate in severity (1).
