What our experts find
HelloSkin’s experts could not find any clinical data on lauromacrogols in psoriasis. However, in people with dry and itchy scalp conditions, a leave-on combination product containing lauromacrogols applied to one half of the scalp 3 times per week for 4 weeks, reduced itching .
In another study where different types of itching were experimentally induced in human volunteers, lauromacrogols were found effective itch-reducers in some but not all types of itching .
Lauromacrogols can function as local anaesthetics, and studies have shown that lauromacrogols can inhibit the formation of new smaller blood vessels, which can reduce blood flow to a lesion and therefore influence redness in the skin as shown in lab models and controlled animal experiments .
